Features

Built for the real journey, not the ideal map

Publishing a ride from Adeje to Masca, Tenerife: 34 min and 28.4 km via the TF-1, TF-375 and TF-82, with the shared CO2 saving.

Road routes

See the exact route before you commit

Every ride shows the real road route: duration, distance and the roads it takes, from the A-4 to the TF-82 up to Masca.

  • Traffic on the map for drivers and passengers
  • Place search across Spain, islands included
  • A “ferry required” notice between different islands, because there is no direct road
Recurring trip: Monday to Thursday, leaving daily at 08:00 and returning at 17:00.
A Madrid to Barcelona ride alert: Rutalto keeps watching for an out-and-back match until one appears or the alert expires.

Regular commutes

Set up your routine once

If you travel to work or class every day, publish your trip with the weekdays and the outbound and return times. As a passenger, find an out-and-back for the same day in a single search.

  • Weekdays plus outbound and return times
  • 7-day ride alerts that notify you when a match appears
  • Company and university networks with an access code
A driver's active routes: outbound and return between Adeje and Masca with free seats, a €5.00 contribution and buttons to start live tracking and share live location.

Live

Know where your car is

The driver turns on live tracking during the trip and passengers see the pickup on the map. To let someone you trust follow along without the app, share a link that expires after 2 hours.

  • Live location only during an active trip, and only if you turn it on
  • Trip chat between driver and passengers
  • Notifications for bookings, messages and pending reviews
Ride preferences: available seats, price per seat, conversation, music, pets and smoking.

Your way

Every car has its own rules

Before you book, you know how the ride will go: whether the driver prefers quiet or a chat, the music, and whether pets or smoking are allowed.

  • Available seats and contribution per seat
  • Conversation, music, pet and smoking preferences
  • Two-way reviews once both people confirm the trip ended
Carbon footprint calculator using the official MITECO / IDAE estimate: for 3 people over 30 km, 8.70 kg of CO2 avoided and 3.72 litres of fuel saved.

Impact

What you save, in official figures

Rutalto estimates the CO2 avoided and fuel saved from the distance and the number of people in the car, using MITECO and IDAE factors. You see it on every route and in your profile.

Adults only

Before travelling you confirm you are 18 or older and accept the terms, the privacy policy and the safety rules.

Report unsafe driving, harassment, no-shows or fraud from the trip itself. In an emergency, call 112.

Your location, your call

Live tracking only works during an active trip and you can stop it at any time.

FAQ

Common questions

When will Rutalto be available?

We are finishing testing on Android and iPhone. When the app is on Google Play and the App Store, you will see it here.

Is Rutalto a transport service?

No. Rutalto connects people sharing a trip the driver was already making. The contribution per seat splits costs such as fuel and tolls.

Can I travel between islands?

Yes. You can search and publish trips on any of the Canary and Balearic Islands. If the origin and destination are on different islands, Rutalto tells you a ferry is needed, because there is no direct road route.

Who can see my location?

Only the people on your trip, and only while live tracking is on during the trip. If you share a tracking link, it expires after 2 hours.

How do I delete my account?

From the privacy section of your profile in the app, or by emailing privacy@rutalto.com. See how to delete your account for the details.

How do I contact you?

Email support@rutalto.com or visit the support page.
